Student Council
The school has a representative council of elected students which meets regularly and provides an avenue for new student ideas and initiatives.
The Student Council gives children an opportunity for leadership and responsibility. They are mediators who can convey and implement ideas from their peers that will enrich their time at St Joseph’s Orakei.

Nurturing our Future Leaders
Although leadership opportunities are provided from early on, at a Senior level formal leadership roles are allocated including Head Boy and Girl, House Team Leaders, Sports Leaders, Club Captains, and Library and Liturgy Leaders. Our students become natural public speakers due to a small school roll allowing numerous opportunities for each child to present in class, at Mass and at assembly for example. Many of our graduates are top public speakers at their secondary schools.
