Sports

At St Joseph’s sport is an important part of the curriculum and students participate in a range of school sports events during the year such as Touch Rugby, Netball, Softball, Athletics, Football, Cross-Country and Swimming.

In addition to the weekly programme, days are allocated each year to outdoor team building and problem solving — no matter the skill level there’s always something for everyone!

Our Seniors have a strong history of successfully competing with other schools from the Eastern Suburbs and the wider Auckland Region in tournaments across many disciplines. Our small roll allows ample opportunity for a large number of our students to represent their school throughout the year.

“Our daughter was given the opportunity to represent her school early on. The St Joseph’s children out-cheered her number as she crossed the finish line”

Inspiring Sporting Excellence

From their first year at school St Joseph’s students have the opportunity to represent the school in weekly sports competitions in Netball, Flippaball and Touch Rugby.

A high proportion of our students participate in our school sports teams carrying the strong school spirit into the community. We also provide out-sourced specialist coaching in Tennis, Soccer, Rippa Rugby, Gymnastics and Golf during lunchtimes and as part of the Physical Education curriculum.

Professional swimming lessons are provided each year. St Joseph’s annual Swimming Sports are held each year at Sacred Heart Aquatic Centre with our top performing students representing the school competitively at the Eastern Suburbs Swim Champs. St Joseph’s participates in YMCA Waterwise with seniors enjoying water-based activities such as kayaking, windsurfing and sailing.
