In their first year children are allocated to one of our four house groups.
Our house groups are MacKillop, Brigid, Delany and Joseph which the children will remain in throughout their time at St Joseph’s. House and Sports Captains are elected annually and over the year the children participate in a variety of activities in their house teams. We feel this cross-age comradery is a great way to strengthen the bonds of our close community. The Senior students encourage the younger ones to achieve.
“The House team running relays are so much fun. All of Orakei can hear us cheering. The juniors get to hand the baton to a senior.”
House and Vice House Captains are elected annually by Year 5 and 6 children. Over the year, the children participate in a variety of activities in their house groups instead of their classes. This cross-age grouping has proven a great way of strengthening the bonds of the school community. The Senior students encourage the younger ones to achieve, and the Junior children aspire to perform alongside their Senior counterparts.
