Culture and the Arts

We are committed to broadening the horizons of our pupils through exposure to culture and the arts.

One of our Strategic Goals is growing the ‘hauora’ or well-being of the whole child which encompasses physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual health. We are committed to broadening the horizons of our pupils through exposure to culture and the arts. We provide wide exposure to culture including trips to the Opera and Orchestra. Our Cultural Group is very active amongst the local community performing regularly at regional events often in collaboration with neighbouring schools and the local Iwi. The group instils confidence and a sense of pride in its members.

St Joseph’s Cultural Day

Our Cultural Day celebrates our diversity with students preparing in class and peer groups in the lead up to this. Our school productions are well received and enjoyed by the students and wider school community. Students are encouraged to express themselves through dance and movement. St Joseph’s students are inspired to explore their creative artistic talents and interests. Their works are displayed with delight around the school.
